Carlos A. Calderón Head of Military and Veteran – Law Section

Carlos Calderón is the Head of Military and Veteran Law at Light Path Law, where he brings more than two decades of distinguished legal, military, and leadership experience. As a retired Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer in the U.S. Army, Carlos has built a career defined by integrity, strategic thinking, and cross-jurisdictional expertise — qualities that now guide the firm’s service to veterans, active-duty personnel, and military families across the United States.

Before joining Light Path Law, Carlos served as Senior General Counsel and Command Judge Advocate at Camp Darby Military Community in Italy, where he provided counsel on international, administrative, and civil matters to military units, retirees, and local government officials. His background includes advising on contract and compliance law, risk management, employment and ethics matters, and international agreements, with an emphasis on practical solutions that protect both organizations and individuals. Carlos also served as Assistant General Counsel at U.S. Southern Command, collaborating with partner nations in Latin America on rule of law, human rights, and transitional justice initiatives. His experience in international and administrative law gives him a unique perspective on the complexities families and service members face when navigating legal matters across jurisdictions.

At Light Path Law, Carlos leads the Military and Veteran Law section, representing clients in matters where he is federally authorized to practice. While not licensed as an attorney in the state of Florida, his federal credentials and JAG background allow him to advise and represent veterans, active-duty service members, and military families in matters related to military law, veterans’ benefits, and related federal proceedings — bringing both legal precision and firsthand understanding of the military experience to every case.
