Kristie A. Scott is the Founder, Shareholder, and Principal Attorney of Light Path Law, P.A. She concentrates her practice in church law, business law, labor & employment law, and civil & business litigation. Attorney Scott has had an AV Preeminent® Rating with Martindale Hubbell since 2020, was named by Best Lawyers ® “Ones to Watch in Florida” in 2022.  She has been named a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers Magazine for every year since 2019, was selected as National Black Lawyer Top 40 under 40 in 2020, was featured in KNOW Fort Myers Magazine in 2020, and was recognized  as a “Leader in the Law” by the Florida Association for Women Lawyers in 2017. Attorney Scott was also recognized as one of the Best Employment Lawyers serving Cape Coral by “Expertise” in 2021.  Kristie Scott is known for her commitment to her Christian principles which include to “love all, serve all”.  She operates with integrity while fiercely advocating for her clients.  This has resulted in Kristie Scott being affectionately known as a “Christian Lawyer”.

Attorney Scott is a frequent Public Speaker in the community.  In 2020, she was interviewed and quoted in articles published by the Tampa Bay Times and LegalZoom.  She has also appeared on ABC-7 Local News and has lectured and spoken on panels at Florida Gulf Coast University.  Kristie was the Keynote Speaker at the 2017 Commencement for Cape Coral Technical College. In 2017, Kristie was also honored at “The Finer Womanhood Luncheon”; an event hosted by the Alpha Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  In 2022, Attorney Scott spoke at the Boss Women Getaway Conference in Orlando, Florida and appeared on WINK News.

Attorney Scott is heavily involved in the community. She is actively involved with Next Level Church, where she also completed the esteemed year-long Ascend Biblical Leadership Program in 2017.  She was an adjunct business law professor at Florida Gulf Coast University for six years ending in December 2023.  She has also served as a member of the Golisano Community Council and the Florida and Lee County Bar Associations.  Within the Lee County Bar Association, Kristie has served on the Mock Trial and has served on the Diversity & Inclusion Committees.  She served on the 20th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, Group “C” for The Florida Bar for a two-year term which ended 11/30/2023.  In 2022, she served on the Merit Selection Committee to assist in selecting a Federal Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida.

Prior to starting the firm, she successfully practiced business litigation law for a boutique prestigious law firm and a national law firm.  Kristie represents clients in various matters.  This includes but is not limited to: civil litigation proceedings, advising clients regarding business, employment and other legal matters, conducting legal research, analyzing legal issues, drafting legal memoranda and documents, and attending depositions, mediations and court proceedings.  However, Attorney Scott’s passion is assisting non-profit organizations, governing boards, and churches. 

She has previously served as Treasurer for the Fort Myers Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She is also a former Treasurer for the Lee County Association for Women Lawyers. She is a former Associate Member of the Calusa Chapter of the American Inns of Court. She formerly served as a Guardian ad Litem for the 20th Judicial Circuit, was a Member of the Greater Fort Myers Leadership Class of 2016, and a Past Secretary of the Isaac Anderson Jr. Chapter of the National Bar Association. Kristie served as a Mentor in the Take Stock in Children Program through The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. for over six (6) years.

She attended law school in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.  While in law school, she developed advocacy skills by competing in National Civil and Criminal Mock Trial Competitions.  She also served as President/Justice of the Alexander Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity and Vice-President of the Black Law Students Association.  She graduated with pro bono honors for her commitment to serving the community.  As a student, she argued in North Carolina State and Federal Court.  She also studied abroad in Costa Rica.

Prior to law school, she worked in the investment and insurance industries primarily assisting high net-worth individuals.  During this time, Kristie was the primary point of contact for a client base with over $400,000,000 in investments and was well versed in the financial markets.  She also managed the new business process for a boutique insurance firm for high net worth individuals.

One of Kristie’s greatest accomplishment was completed in December 2023, when she completed her long time endeavor of reading the Bible, in full.  For this endeavor, she spent several years reading and studying (for understanding), The Daily Bible, In Chronological Order 365 Daily Readings, New International Version with Devotional Insights by F. LaGard Smith, who also holds a law degree. 

Kristie’s favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV):  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
